In regard to the op-ed article (Aug. 7), more a plea, to parents to not put their babies face down in the crib for the first 5 or 6 months, I am hoping that maybe new mothers and fathers will heed this new information and not treat it as bogus medical data.

I have often wondered if my little boy, Mac, would not have died of sudden infant death syndrome 12 years ago when he was 4 months old if I had put him down to nap in another position. There is nothing that haunts me more than the memory of finding him that day, face down, the light and life gone from him.
