The beaver

Here's goes the fifth round! Our beaver has some grit, and still a lot of brush to drag to the dam.

I think it's time to do more research on the handling of beavers in this area. It seems like it might be a hidden niche between city, county and state. Can a simple beaver dam get so complicated?

I was hoping to see the dam grow for another week - but you don't always get what you want.

“They” were serious this time. As soon as the weather cleared, they demolished the beaver dam again.

Another couple of days and the dam is even higher. Water is backing up again, though the dam is not as tall as the previous high point. Given the dam breaking events of the last couple of weekends, I wondered it I would return this Monday to a free-flowing stream.

But Boomer is making good progress. I notice a little different approach to the dam - it's more like a concrete dam in its curved shape pointing upstream. Maybe Boomer is refining his design.

It appears BB has begun another dam downstream. Or maybe it’s just an accidental blockage. But it has grown since yesterday.

We had a couple of inches of rain so the creek is flowing rapidly, but the dam is holding. I did a few seconds of video of the new dam and the existing one.

Hey! Boomer is still around! This was after his second day of rebuilding.

I guess you wouldn't expect anything else from a guy who was made to build dams, right?

Some people don't feel very friendly toward beavers. I was happy to see Boomer is still around. I worried he might be in harms way.
